Fully adhered
A membrane attachment method in which the roofing sheet is continuously glued to the substrate rather than fastened or ballasted — no fastener rows, no membrane flutter.

A membrane attachment method in which the roofing sheet is continuously glued to the substrate rather than fastened or ballasted. Because the whole sheet is bonded, there are no fastener rows and no loose membrane to flutter in wind.
Why it matters to you
Verified: In manufacturer guidance, adhered membranes resist wind uplift by distributing wind pressure evenly across the bonded surface, and they avoid the billowing and flutter that mechanically attached membranes can exhibit in wind (GAF — single-ply attachment methods). The trade-offs: adhesives have temperature and cure constraints that can slow installation in cold weather, and adhered systems are generally priced above mechanically attached ones — get both options bid if your building is in a high-wind area. Whichever method is proposed, ask the contractor to show that the specific tested assembly meets the calculated uplift pressures for your building, not just a generic product approval (see adhered vs. mechanically attached).
Technical detail
“Fully adhered” describes the membrane-to-substrate bond only; the insulation below may still be mechanically fastened or adhered in ribbons, and that layer is part of the wind-load path. Under ANSI/SPRI WD-1 (2025), suitability is established by comparing the tested uplift capacity of the whole assembly against the design load for each roof zone, and the standard’s rational-analysis shortcut explicitly does not apply to assemblies whose insulation is attached with 100% adhesive coverage — those rely on tested assembly ratings.
